Chris had his start in education as a substitute teacher along the South Texas Border in 2015. Soon after, he took on tutoring Reading and Writing with students K-12 for Sylvan Learning in addition to substitute teaching. It was with Sylvan Learning that he held SAT seminars for the English portion of the exam along with tutoring. In 2019, Chris and his family moved to Maine to explore new offerings of education and career opportunities. His family currently lives in Unity, where his wife attends college. Chris and his wife come from the outdoor culture from South Texas, where they have been exploring trails in national parks and birding centers since they were 17. While working as an Education Technician for RSU3, he worked in all of the areas of special education. He continues to serve as the district's HiSet examiner for the Adult Education Program. Chris was drawn to the ELC for its mission goals and for the opportunity to learn as much as he will be teaching. Living most in his life in Texas, Chris has enjoyed the culture the border region afforded to him that lends to the diversity of our educators here at ELC. Chris graduated from The University of Texas Pan American (now UTRGV) with a B.A. in English in 2015. He is currently certified in ELA 7-12.
