Grace Warder

Humanities Teacher

Grace comes to the Ecology Learning Center with a love for teaching and learning both in the classroom and outside. Before entering the classroom as a teacher, Grace began her work with students in after-school support, mentoring, and trip-leading capacities which fueled her interest in fostering community and facilitating learning experiences. Grace began her formal career teaching social studies at Lewiston Middle School, where she worked in the school gardens and led after-school programs. Most recently, she worked at Maine Coast Semester at Chewonki as the Environmental Studies teacher and Capstone in Human Ecology teacher. In addition to teaching, Grace led canoeing trips on the Debsconeag Lakes and the West Branch of the Penobscot, as well as XC skiing trips and snowshoeing trips in the North Woods of Maine.

Grace’s love of learning, questioning, discussing, and re-thinking brought her to the Ecology Learning Center this year, and she hopes to continue feeding this love with students to come.

She graduated from Bates College with a B. A in environmental studies with a concentration in human culture and a minor in teacher education, and is currently pursuing an M.Ed in Curriculum, Assessment, and Instruction through UMaine Orono. She lives in Brunswick with her dog and pursues outdoor adventure in the woods and waters of Maine whenever she can.
