INTRODUCING THE NEW

Give to Grit

The Ecology Learning Center's volunteer website designer Ezra completed a 24-hour bicycling challenge on August 1, 2026 in support of the ELC's Outdoor Programming.

Support Outdoor Programming at the Ecology Learning Center!

The Ecology Learning Center provides an excellent free public education for 132 students in grades 9-12 in rural Maine. Our Outdoor Programs fundraising goal for the 2026-2027 school year is $6,000 to support hiking, camping, cross country skiing, mountain biking, canoeing, rock climbing and kayaking.

These outdoor learning experiences build confidence, resilience, and healthy living habits. In other words, GRIT!

Last year students at the Ecology Learning Center spent a combined total of 2,421 days outdoors; 1,527 days of which were spent on overnight outdoor adventures! These types of outdoor programs typically cost students hundreds to thousands of dollars, but with your help we can continue offering these incredible experiences to our students for FREE. Your contributions directly support our Outdoor Programs in the future and ensure that we can continue to offer these life-changing experiences to students.

THANK YOU

Capital Campaign COMPLETE!

The Ecology Learning Center became the proud owner of the Clifford Arts & Student Center (formerly Unity Center for Performing Arts) in 2024, thanks to the generosity of Unity Environmental University and Unity Foundation. To maintain and fully realize the capacity of this beautiful 8,000 square foot facility, we raised $150,000.  Thank you to all who donated to the capital campaign!

We proudly use a platform called "Zeffy" because it is 100% free to our nonprofit. Zeffy requests an additional donation to cover their costs. If you do not wish to pay the Zeffy fee, simply change "additional contribution" to 0%.
