Katia is from New York and California and is excited to share her love of history, commitment to humanity, and interest in the natural world with students and staff. Katia graduated from University of California Berkeley with a B.A. in Peace and Conflict Studies and then went on to earn her Masters in Teaching and Learning from the University of Southern Maine. Katia has spent the last two years teaching Social Studies and English at The Ecology Learning Center and the two years prior teaching Social Studies at Baxter Academy for Science and Technology in Portland, Maine. In between her education work Katia has also taken time to work a couple of seasons on production farms in Maine and cultivated a love of fiber arts. She is enjoying bringing her love of organizational systems and community building to this new position at The Ecology Learning Center.
