Taylor Sherritt
Special Education Teacher
Taylor (he/they) believes in the power of curiosity and its ability to transform the way we learn about ourselves and the world. As he joins the ELC community, Taylor hopes to continue cultivating their desire to learn with their students and peers! Taylor brings English teaching experience from his time at Messalonskee High School where he worked alongside a diverse group of learners who were really great at telling stories. Prior to living and teaching in Maine, Taylor received a B.A. of Liberal Arts with an emphasis in Creative Writing from the University of St. Francis in 2013, inspiring them to publish works of poetry and short fiction before attending graduate school. In 2019, they received an M.A. of Sociology and Gender Studies from Wright State University, where they worked as a student liaison in the office of LGBTQIA affairs by day and wildly studied comics by night. After graduation, he sold all of his belongings, converted a campervan, and slowly made his way to the east coast. Since leaving roots in Ohio, Taylor has been slowly building their dreams of crafting a homestead in the heart of community, finding cool bugs, and learning various ways to chop and stack wood. They live and dream in an off-grid yurt in Brooks with their partner Emily and doggo Rosie.
