Tim Hare
Operations Director
Tim has worked as an educator and administrator with outdoor and experiential education programs for over 25 years. As a newcomer to midcoast, he and his family are excited to be a part of the ELC community and to weave with the local ecology and culture in ways that nurture deep, place-based and ecology-centered learning. He has worked as an Instructor and Staff Trainer with Outward Bound in Colorado, Alaska, and Patagonia and also with Where There be Dragons, where he spent many years as a Program Director for the Andes and Amazon of Bolivia and Peru and then as Risk Management Director. Most recently, he supported the Allegheny Mountain Institute as Executive Director, a farm education and agro-ecology program in central Appalachia. Tim and his family have lived a nomadic lifestyle throughout the US and abroad, while maintaining a base in Colorado, where he and his wife run Wonder, a nature connection program in the Rockies. He is a Wilderness First Responder, Work that Reconnects facilitator, and rock climbing and mountaineering instructor. In his free time you can find him exploring remote cliffs, farming, or wandering the woods with his family getting to know the local plants, animals, and fungi.
